Where Calgary Comes Together

The Culture + Entertainment District is envisioned as a vibrant, high-density, mixed-use community that draws on the spirit of entertainment that resides in its DNA.

It will be Calgary’s next great city neighbourhood, the next chapter in downtown life. It’s an engine of development and tourism in a dynamic and evolving city.

A Place of Pride

The district defines Calgary as a hub of the arts, sports and business. Already home to the colour and community spirit of the Calgary Stampede, it is now home to Western Canada’s largest convention centre with the expanded BMO Centre and construction is underway on Calgary’s new event centre, Scotia Place. With proximity to arts and culture institutions and new hotels, restaurants and retail, the district is coming to life as a vibrant, dynamic space.

There will be four million square feet of residential, office and commercial development, and urban living for 8,000 new residents in a safe, walkable area that’s easily accessible from everywhere.

Best of all, the district will be Calgary’s gathering place and destination, a neighbourhood of belonging and celebration for all.

  • 8,000 new residents
  • 500+ events per year
  • 3 million+ visitors annually

The East End is Rising

Nestled on 286 acres of Calgary’s resurging downtown eastside in east Victoria Park, The Culture + Entertainment District is anchored by two of the city’s most beloved attractions, Calgary Stampede and the NHL’s Calgary Flames. It is surrounded by the character of established and emerging neighbourhoods with quick access to Ramsay, the Beltline and East Village. The amenities of Inglewood and 17th Avenue SW are within walking distance. A cycle track and LRT line provide connections to Calgary’s commercial core.

This ideal location is one of the many characteristics that makes it the next great city neighbourhood.

A lot of culture and entertainment districts around the world evolve organically or by accident. Here we have a chance to be very intentional about what this will be, and that’s the most amazing opportunity you can ask for.
